After a rather harsh winter, spring flowers are finally starting to bloom. And man, there's quite a bit I'm actually looking forward to this season, including one anime that many, myself included, have been eagerly waiting for for YEARS.New:1. Witch Hat AtelierFUCK YEAH THE WITCH HAT ATELIER ANIME IS FINALLY HERE AT LAST!!!! Did you really think I wasn't going to watch this? The manga is honestly one of the best to come out from the 2010s, and it's still kicking ass even now that a fairly long arc has recently ended. Now, there is some worry about whether Bug Films, the studio working on this, will actually be able to do the story justice. I am going to keep my expectations in check, but recent information has revealed that the studio is closely working with Kamome Shirahama and doing their utmost to ensure production goes smoothly, if all the delays are any indication. But you know what? I'm just happy we're finally getting the anime, and you can bet your ass I'm gonna chow down!2. Magical Sisters Lulu and LilyHey kids! Remember when Studio Pierrot used to make their own original magical girl anime? They stopped after Fancy Lala, but it seems Pierrot decided to get back into it with this new project. I really love Fancy Lala, and since we don't get a lot of magical girl anime besides Pretty Cure nowadays, I'm genuinely curious to see how this turns out. This could turn out either genuinely good, or it could turn out extremely cheesy, saccharine, or annoying. I really hope its the former. I did hear news that this will actually have two cours, with a break in-between, so I'm glad Pierrot is allowing the story to have a decent amount of episodes! Whether they'll actually put that time to good use is another matter. Please, let this be good!3. Awajima Hyakkei (aka Scenes From Awajima)So...Kageki Shojo done by the person who made Sweet Blue Flowers and Wandering Son? Ok, I guess. I'm kinda mixed on Takako Shimura as a storyteller. I liked the anime for Sweet Blue Flowers, though I kinda turned on the manga after a certain point, and my feelings on Wandering Son soured quite a bit in the years since I've seen both the anime and heard about later developments in the manga. I did read a bit of the manga for this, but I haven't gotten far yet. I am willing to give Awajima Hyakkei a chance, but I hope it doesn't go in any weird or creepy directions.4. Agents Of The Four Seasons: Dance of SpringI read a bit of the manga for this and I mostly enjoyed it. The premise seems interesting and I found most of the characters to be enjoyable from what little I was able to read. I am wondering how they're going to be able to translate Hinagiku's specific speech pattern to the screen, especially since that's the biggest criticism I've seen people lobby against Agents. Hopefully Wit Studio does it justice.Old:1. PianoYes, this show is literally just called Piano. Not even kidding. Eh, it's only ten episodes long, and since I've grown to like mundane slice-of-life shows now that I'm an adult, I might check this out. Who knows? Maybe I'll like it.
