‘Madoka Magica’ Launches 10th Anniversary EventTo celebrate the 10th anniversary of Shaft’s Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Magica Quartet and Aniplex are hosting a special event on April 25 in Tokyo, which will be live-streamed on Stagecrowd. Chief animation director Junichirou Taniguchi illustrates the key art for the event. A special website also launched in January with messages from some of the project’s key staff, a collection of art featuring series characters, and more information about the special event.Voice actresses Aoi Yuuki (Madoka), Emiri Katou (Kyubey), and Chiwa Saito will be present at the event. Saito notably said at a panel at Anime Expo 2019 that her journey as Homura, or more accurately Devil Humura, after the events of the Rebellion movie, was not over.Puella Magi Madoka Magica originally premiered on January 7, 2011. The series became a cultural phenomenon, spawning three movie adaptations, multiple manga series, video games, and a spin-off series Magia Record, which will receive a second season. It is highly influential, and numerous dark magical girl series draw on its themes and imagery.
