Christmas Roundup: Vikings and High-School Girls. Thankfully not in the same show, because that would be bad for the girls.... depending. And that's because my pick for this Christmas is the first season of Vinland Saga, where you don't want to be on the receiving end of most of the main characters in this show and their weaponry of choice. I kid, of course, but boy howdy, I'm glad the show has a sense of humor to sprinkle over the more serious parts. And even better, this show is damn good! Seriously, I am impressed at how well it weaves a fantastic story around our historical past, and I cannot recommend it more. On the other hand, Tim takes a second look at Azumanga Daioh and find it still good. Sure, some aspects of it didn't age in the best ways, although some of the characters were considered quite questionable even back then. But I guess the show's biggest issue is that by now, it simply has too much competition from newer shows, and if you've seen any of them, you might wonder what all the hubbub is about. That being said, it is still a classic. And that's that. Next week, which will be the very first day of the new year, Allen will return with a little something magical. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas (or whichever other holiday you celebrated.. or didn't celebrate.) See you all then. -Stig Høgset.
